Launch a Webinar in Co+op U


Training will sometimes take place via a webinar meeting. These are launched directly through your personal transcript in Co+op U. Take the following steps to access a webinar.

Step 1: Log in to Co+op U

Your username should be your work email address. If it is not, contact your co-op’s Co+op U administrator or peopleandculture@ncg.coop for help.

Click the Forgot your password? link if you need to reset your password. You will be sent an email with a link to reset it.

Step 2: Navigate to your transcript


Please ensure pop-up blockers are disabled for your computer.

Select My Courses from the green navigation bar near the top of the screen, or the "My Courses" button at the bottom. This will bring you to your transcript.

Step 3: Launch the webinar
When it is time to join the webinar sessions, click on the word Launch to the right of the training title.

It is a good idea to join the session at least 10 minutes in advance to ensure you are ready to participate at the scheduled start time.
Step 4: Call in to the session
After you successfully launch the webinar session, you will see a screen similar to the example below.
  • Click on the icon I Will Call In.
  • The phone number to call will be provided in a pop-up window. Follow the instructions in this pop-up.

Step 5: Be aware of the following features, which will enhance your experience on the call

Click the diagonal arrow icon in the upper right corner of the image screen to expand. 

Place your cursor on the small green bar at the top of your screen. When this opens, click on the Participants icon and Chat icon to open both. You can then see individuals within the call and communicate with them directly through text.

You can also mute and unmute here. Hover your cursor to the right of your name in the Participants panel. A microphone icon will appear. Click the microphone icon to mute or unmute yourself. You are muted when the microphone has a red “no” symbol  through it.

First-time users, please be aware of the following points. We strive to make the online sessions work as smoothly as possible for all attendees:
  • Remember to ensure pop-up blockers are disabled on your computer.
  • Make sure you join the call at least 5 - 10 minutes prior to the start time so that your computer has sufficient time to download the necessary software. This will happen automatically the first time you launch and call in.
  • When asked for your name at sign in, please give your full name.
  • To use the Chat panel, use the drop-down menu to the right of the field where you type your chat message. From here you can choose to send your message to everyone, or just to an individual. To send to everyone, scroll to the top of the list of names and select Everyone.
  • We take attendance and want you to receive credit for being here. If there are other attendees with you sharing the same computer under one log-in to Co+op U, please send the names of those people to your call’s host. You can send this information via the Chat panel.
  • If you want to get the attention of the facilitator, click on the Hand icon at the bottom of the Participant panel. We’ll call on you as soon as there is an appropriate break in the presentation.
  • Please DO NOT put this call on hold once you have called it – listening to someone's hold music makes it hard to carry on, and we may have to terminate your connection.
  • We have a strong preference for you NOT to use a speakerphone; the sound quality for everyone is worse and we get a lot more background noises (pages, phones ringing, keyboard clicks, side conversations, etc.) on speakerphones. It is often harder for you to hear the presenter as clearly as others not on speakerphone. If you must be on a speakerphone, try to find a location in your co-op with minimal background noise. Please mute yourself if you must be on speakerphone.
